Mike Boscoe – Founder & immediate past President of SAR

Mike is the Founder and the immediate past President of SAR. Having recognised the increasing importance of procedures carried out in the radiology department and the pivotal role of the anaesthetist Mike founded The Society of Anaesthetists in Radiology. He recently retired from the NHS after 27 years as Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia at Harefield Hospital and is now in Independent Practice. He has a particular interest in interventional radiology and vascular surgery. He qualified from the London Hospital in 1974 and gained the FRCA in 1979.


Mike has worked in many cardiac centres abroad including Leiden, Holland in 1979, and Stanford, California in 1988. He has over 40 publications mainly in cardiac anaesthesia and transplantation but has broad interests having until recently served on a NICE technology assessment committee. He is presently a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Surgery.
